Assalamualaikum..
Hello guys, welcome to my second blog✨
This time i want to tell about my experience for 3 days 2 nights nature field trip in Toraja Regency.
It was Monday, October 21, 2019 and we are going to Toraja. From campus to toraja takes about 8 hours, but because we have a lot of layovers so we arrive in toraja rather late. We have lunch in Barru Regency, precisely at Kupa Beach restaurant and also do Dhuhr prayer there. Then we continued the journey to Enrekang Regency and stopped again at the Resting House Bambapuang. There we were served warm tea, a long trip from Makassar it was just right when drinking tea, is it right guys? Hahaha. There we are also spoiled by the beauty of the erotic mountain. Then we continue the journey to toraja. We arrived in toraja around 6 pm, really a very long journey guys... and also we were immediately served a welcome drink by the hotel. Then we had dinner at the Ayam Penyet Ria and that distance was very close from the hotel so we just walk. Then after dinner and evaluation night, we go back to the hotel to rest because tomorrow we want to trekking....Wow I'm so excited.
We start trekking in Timenbayo. Imagine guys, we leave at 7 in the morning and then finish trekking and return to the hotel it's already maghrib... imagine how tired it is? ha ha ha ha. But all the tiredness paid off by the natural beauty of Toraja which is very cool.
The first is the traditional house of tongkonan. At the front of the house there are buffalo horns lined up and show the high degree of family who inhabit the house. The buffalo horn ornament in front of the tongkonan symbolizes the economic ability of the homeowner during the burial ceremony of his family members. Every traditional ceremony in Toraja, such as a funeral, will sacrifice a large number of buffalo. Buffalo horns are then mounted on the tongkonan of the family concerned. The more horns installed in front of the tongkonan, the higher the social status of the owner's family.
Then the second is Pa'piong. Pa'piong is a typical Toraja dish consisting of miana leaves mixed with pork, free-range chicken or goldfish (but calm down guys.... at that time we ate chicken meat. And you can request what meat you want) Meat in it are scattered and mixed with grated coconut that is yellowing because of the seasoning. Spices used include sliced shallots and garlic, salt, ginger slices, and lemongrass stems to remove the fishy odor. After the miana leaves are wrapped, pa'piong is put into bamboo stems and burned.
Then the third is baby grave in a tree. Only babies who have died and have not yet grown teeth are buried here, precisely in a Tarra tree. Babies who do not have teeth are considered still sacred. While the Tarra tree was chosen as a baby grave because this type of tree has a lot of sap which is considered as a substitute for breast milk. By burying the baby in a Tarra tree as if returning the baby to the mother's womb. Tucked hope, that by returning the baby to the womb of his mother will save babies born later. The baby's body is placed in a standing position assuming the baby will also grow inside the tree.
Well guys... after a tired day of trekking, we returned to the hotel for a short break. Then, dinner at the Aras Cafe. As long as you know guys, this Aras Cafe is the best restaurant in toraja and can also be a restaurant recommendation to you who will come to toraja later.
After three days in toraja, we from the hotel headed to Makassar with the same route as the first day, lunch on the Teras Empang Restaurant in Parepare City. After the Maghrib we arrived in Makassar.
